Gingersnap Cookies


This is a recipe that I make frequently and also the most requested recipe. Just click on the picture to obtain the recipe!
Gingersnaps
3/4 cup shortening     2 1/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour    1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 cup brown sugar     2 teaspoons baking soda                1 teaspoon ground cinnammon
1/4 cup molasses       1/2 teaspoon salt                         1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 egg 

Cream the shortening, brown sugar, molasses and egg until fluffy.  Sift together the flour, 
soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and ginger; stir into molasses mixture.
Form in small balls.  Roll in granulated sugar; place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
Bake in moderate over (350 degrees) for 8-10 minutes, or just until slightly browned.
Makes about 5 dozen.
